There is an strange thing happening on the following code: public static function encryptMessage($message, $publicKey) { // Creating the key with OpenSSL $opensslContext = new openssl_context(); $privateKey = new openssl_private_key($publicKey, $opensslContext); // Encyrpting the message with OpenSSL $cipher = openssl_encrypt($message, "AES-256-ECB", $privateKey, OPENSSL_RAW_DATA, OPENSSL_ZERO_PADDING); // Getting the decrypted message $message = openssl_decrypt($cipher, "AES-256-ECB", $privateKey, OPENSSL_RAW_DATA, OPENSSL_ZERO_PADDING); return $message; } The way it works is you have an encrypted string that has to be decrypted and sent to the server, if I do this (the line that says $message = openssl_decrypt($cipher, "AES-256-ECB", $privateKey, OPENSSL_RAW_DATA, OPENSSL_ZERO_PADDING);) it works perfectly as it returns the original message, but I am sending the decrypted string back to the server, thus I do this (the line that says echo "";var_dump($message);echo "";);. As you can see here it returns: string(4) "[2 1 1 ] Do you have any idea why this is happening? A: You're not sending a proper BER structure. You should be sending this with the [1 0] indicies ciphertext the padding And the decryption will return the plaintext. The value
