There have been many products that have tried to mimic Photoshop on the web, but you just can’t quite get Photoshop-like results, without having access to every tool at your disposal. Even Photoshop itself, has had a few web-based iterations.
Beyond CC features, when you look closely at many of the steps you can take in CSS, you’ll find a lot of Photoshop operators. CC’s PNG and JPEG support has been expanded to include all of Photoshop’s features. Better click-throughs, background handling, and transparency apply specifically to image output. Think of any digital image being converted to a PDF or TIFF as implementing a lot of the same CC features that we’ve shown above.
Object Selection is something that Photoshop hasn’t shipped with the Creative Cloud version, but it has become an online standard for every Adobe CC release. You’ll find Object Selection in pretty much every other web design tool, too. This is a common way to select an object in a photo—from an image composite to a holiday backdrop. Photoshop Elements has Object Selection, but it’s limited.
Just tapping “Remove Background” in Photoshop will remove a photo’s text layer. The result is a clean, edited photo where the text is removed from the top layer of the photo. PS also allows you to choose whether the layer should transform and scale down or up. This is, of course, if you don’t mind the transformation and scaling.
