Elements is in many ways more like the new versions of Apple’s Pages and Numbers, and so most people who are initially intimidated by the software will get on board quickly, and discover that they can quickly adjust to the interface. Also, unlike the full-featured Photoshop or Lightroom, Elements doesn’t seem to have a signficance problem with running out of RAM - the computer as a whole will still be maximizing a variety of processes when you run out of RAM. Elements has its issues - pages that get huge can take a while to open. I'll even see lag during the opening and closing of documents as a bog-like experience. For those who allow the program to open the entire catalog at once, the slower opening of individual page can get tedious. Also, a lot of people have complained about the program closing on its own and locking up their work. Easy to fix, even for adobe. The good news is that the "crash" problem, while still occurring frequently, is now more rarely than it was in the earlier versions. This doesn’t seem to have any performance impact on my computer at all.
Overall, I very much like Elements. I can't say that I will ever use the program as my primary, or semi-daily, program. However, if you are a person who uses only Photoshop or just Photoshop Elements occasionally for specialized tasks, then Elements is for you.
